Who We Are
Oort Media, LLC, doing business as STANDALONE AUDIO, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You may reach us through our contact page.
What We Collect
When you purchase STANDALONE or STELLA '71, Stripe processes your name, email address, payment information, and transaction. We retain the customer email, Stripe payment or order reference, product, entitlement source, license status, and relevant dates needed to deliver and support the license.
For STELLA '71 licensing, we also retain a keyed license lookup, an encrypted recoverable license key, product-scoped hashed machine identity components, operating-system family, activation and renewal dates, and minimal security or support events. If you add a machine nickname, we store that nickname. Deactivated-seat records use opaque identifiers and do not retain hardware hashes.
From required activation and renewal traffic, we also keep a limited active-installation record containing opaque internal license, seat, and machine references, operating-system family, plug-in format and version, and first- and last-seen dates. These records are retained for 120 days. Stella does not send a separate activity heartbeat.
If you use our contact form, Web3Forms processes the name, email address, subject, and message you submit so we can respond.
What STELLA '71 Does Not Store
STELLA '71 licensing does not store:
- Your computer hostname or operating-system username
- Raw hardware serial numbers or hardware UUIDs
- Precise location or permanent raw IP-address history
- Your audio, presets, projects, or DAW content
Cloudflare may temporarily process an IP address to deliver requests, enforce rate limits, and protect the service from abuse. Raw IP addresses are not copied into Stella '71 license records.
License Delivery, Recovery, and Magic Links
We use your email to deliver licenses, confirm complimentary STANDALONE-owner entitlements after you request a claim, recover an existing license, and send secure activation-management links. Creating an entitlement does not itself send a Stella '71 email. Magic links are single-use and expire promptly. Request pages use a generic response whether or not an address is on file so they do not reveal customer status. There is no password-based customer account or public customer profile.
Optional Marketing
Marketing signup, when offered, is separate from downloading, starting a trial, purchasing, or receiving a transactional license message. We send an address to Zoho Campaigns only after an affirmative opt-in. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages at any time.
Why We Process Information
We process purchase, licensing, activation, and support information to perform our contracts with customers. We process limited security, fraud-prevention, service-reliability, and support information for our legitimate business interests where permitted. We retain records when necessary to satisfy tax, accounting, and other legal obligations. Optional marketing, website analytics, advertising measurement, and STELLA '71 compatibility reporting rely on your consent where required.
Product Diagnostics and Analytics
STANDALONE may send limited diagnostic crash reports to Sentry, including app and macOS versions and technical context about an error. Reports do not include recordings.
STANDALONE also sends limited pseudonymous in-app analytics to our own servers to understand feature use and reliability. This may include app launches, feature use, plug-in events, audio-device changes, versions, timestamps, and a pseudonymous device identifier. It does not include names, email addresses, recordings, file names, file paths, preset contents, or plug-in settings.
By default, STELLA '71 keeps a rolling 14-day diagnostic log on your computer. It records only when the editor opens and changes in broad authorization status, such as unlicensed, trial, licensed, or unavailable. It does not contain audio or project content and is never uploaded automatically. You can turn this local log off or delete it in Privacy & Diagnostics.
STELLA '71 offers optional compatibility reporting. It is off by default and can be enabled or disabled in Privacy & Diagnostics. When enabled, Stella sends a product-scoped hashed installation identifier, Stella version and build, DAW name and version, plug-in format, operating-system family and version, computer architecture, and a closed initialization result. We use this data to understand which Stella and DAW configurations are being initialized and to improve compatibility and reliability.
STELLA '71 compatibility reports do not include audio, session or project content, track or preset names, file paths, parameter or control settings, email addresses, license keys, or raw hardware identifiers. Cloudflare processes the reports for delivery, security, and rate limiting and hosts the separate D1 database used to store them. Raw compatibility observations are retained for 90 days.
STELLA '71 can also create a diagnostic report for you to review and save locally. Stella does not upload that report automatically. It is sent to us only if you choose to attach or provide it when contacting support.
With your permission, our website uses Google Analytics to measure aggregate site usage and Meta Pixel to measure advertising campaigns. These providers may process browser, device, page-interaction, and campaign-attribution data under their own privacy terms. We do not load either service until you consent. You may reject either category or change your choice at any time through Cookie settings in the site footer. Website tracking data is not used as proof of license ownership.
Service Providers
Service providers include:
- Cloudflare for website delivery, licensing infrastructure, security, and rate limiting
- Stripe for payment processing and transaction records
- Make.com to route product-scoped purchase, refund, and entitlement events
- ZeptoMail for STELLA '71 transactional and security email
- Zoho Campaigns only for optional marketing email
- Sentry for STANDALONE crash reporting
- Web3Forms to process messages submitted through our contact form
- Google Analytics for optional website usage measurement
- Meta Pixel for optional campaign attribution and advertising measurement
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Providers receive only the information needed to perform their services, subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
Data Retention
Purchase and license records are retained for the life of the license and as required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and support obligations. Magic-link and transient rate-limit data expire promptly. Limited active-installation records are retained for 120 days, local Stella diagnostic logs for 14 days, and raw STELLA '71 compatibility observations for 90 days. Other diagnostic and product analytics data is kept only as long as reasonably necessary to monitor reliability and improve the products. Website tracking retention is described in our Cookie Policy.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or a copy of your personal data; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
You may change website tracking choices through Cookie settings, unsubscribe from marketing, or make a privacy request through our contact page. Some purchase and license records must be retained to provide the perpetual license or meet legal obligations.
International Processing
Oort Media, LLC is based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use contractual and other safeguards supplied by those providers for international transfers.
Browser Privacy Signals
Because there is no uniform interpretation of the older Do Not Track browser signal, this site does not respond to that signal. We honor the choices made through our consent control. Optional Meta advertising tracking remains off unless you affirmatively allow it.
We treat an enabled Global Privacy Control signal as a request to keep Meta advertising tracking off for that browser. While the signal is enabled, it overrides a previously saved Advertising choice. Google Analytics remains subject to your separate Analytics choice.
Children
STANDALONE and STELLA '71 are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as our products or service providers change. The current version and its update date will remain on this page.
